How a dam removal helped the Klamath river burst back to life

Subscribe to The Guardian on YouTube ► http://bit.ly/subscribegdn After a decades-long and hard-fought campaign led by Indigenous leaders and environmental activists, the final of four hydroelectric dams, which stood for more than an century on the river, were removed. It was the largest project of its kind in US history. Gabrielle Canon, the Guardian US’s climate reporter and extreme weather correspondent, traveled to the California-Oregon border to visit the Klamath in its first spring since the dam removal project took place. There, she was able to able to discover how it has benefitted local salmon populations and Indigenous communities.
