From the tent she can see the yellow line, a demarcation boundary agreed with the Israelis after the October 2025 ceasefire. Her home was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike that killed all three of her children. While pregnant with her fourth child, Alaa describes walking in 34C heat through bombed streets filled with rubble and insects to her prenatal care appointments — and her hope that her new baby will live a better life than the ones his siblings experienced.
