The women breaking through the silence of the asylum experience
The Guardian has been working with a group of community reporters in Rochdale and Oldham who wanted to highlight the realities for women in the asylum system across Greater Manchester. Subscribe to The Guardian on YouTube ► http://bit.ly/subscribegdn Supported by the Elephants Trail the group met women stuck in the asylum backlog, women traumatised by detention and women struggling to find housing. They were all volunteering in their communities, while reckoning with a hostile climate towards refugees and asylum seekers. This film is part of a collaborative video series called Made in Britain. The Guardian publishes independent journalism, made possible by supporters.
